The Cinnamon Trust

  • When was The Cinnamon Trust founded?

The Trust was founded in 1985 by Mrs. Averil Jarvis MBE, inspired by the heartache she witnessed when elderly and terminally ill pet owners were forced to part with their beloved companions.

  • Why are you called The ‘Cinnamon’ Trust?

Mrs. Jarvis said goodbye to her cherished corgi, Cinnamon, who passed away at 17 years old, close to the time of the formation of the charity. It seemed appropriate to name The Trust in her memory.

  • Is there a charge for any of The Cinnamon Trust’s services?

The answer is always NO! There is no charge and never has been, as all of the help that we put in place is on a voluntary basis and made possible by the ‘circle of giving’.

  • How is The Cinnamon Trust funded?

The Cinnamon Trust is funded entirely by gifts, donations, and fundraising. The lifeblood of The Trust are the volunteers, who offer their time and kindness at no cost and allow us to help thousands of people and pets at little to no cost to The Trust.

  • Where does The Cinnamon Trust operate?

The Cinnamon Trust, thanks to its network of volunteers, covers the whole of the UK. However, local availability is entirely dependent on having registered volunteers available to offer help with the task that is required at the time of request, within the distance they are willing to travel.

  • Where is The Cinnamon Trust based?

The Cinnamon Trust head office is located in Hayle, Cornwall. Poldarves Farm Sanctuary is located in Penzance, Cornwall. Hillside Farm Sanctuary is located in Lewdown, Devon.

  • Does The Cinnamon Trust offer will writing?

Yes, The Cinnamon Trust is able to offer a free will writing service. Find out more on our ‘Leave a Gift in your Will’ page.

  • Does The Cinnamon Trust offer any financial support with vet bills?

The only circumstance that we support with vet bills is for our Forever Foster pets, for which we cover all vet bills for life as part of the promise made to their previous owner. Unfortunately, we do not offer financial support as part of our services to the general public.

  • Does The Cinnamon Trust rehome pets?

The Cinnamon Trust is not a re-homing charity. The only time we offer a new home to a pet is if an owner has made arrangements with us prior to their passing or move into permanent nursing care for their pet(s) to come into our care, should they become unable to look after them (Pet Profiling). We have no rehoming centre, kennels, cattery, or boarding facility and instead move pets into a temporary or Forever Foster homes.

  • Does The Cinnamon Trust only help dogs and cats?

No, companion pets come in all shapes and sizes, and we want to help them all. We always say, “If you love them, we do too,” so if there is a physical challenge that is proving a problem for you and your companion, we want to help.
