On Sunday April 26th I will be taking on The London Marathon, raising money for The Cinnamon Trust.
As many of you know, I’ve been into running and triathlons (rookie level of course) for a while, but I’ve mostly always stuck to half-marathons and shorter distance races. This year, I’m taking the ultimate leap: I’ve secured a place in the London Marathon!
This is the first time I have ever trained with this level of intent and discipline. Sticking to a strict marathon schedule while managing a few injuries and training with no team to go out with at 5 am, has been challenging. I'm fortunate however, to have secured 2 fantastic coaches that, while based on the other side of the Atlantic, have been a fantastic guide and support to take me healthy to the start line. I am pushing my body and my mental strength further than it’s ever gone to reach that finish line on the Mall and I would love this effort to also mean support for others.
I’ve been a volunteer with The Cinnamon Trust for three years now, and I’ve decided to fundraise independently for them because I see the magic they work every day.
The Trust is the only specialist UK national charity for the elderly, the terminally ill, and their pets. They provide a vital lifeline - arranging for volunteers to walk dogs, foster pets when owners face hospital stays, or even providing "forever foster" homes for pets who outlive their owners. In short: they keep families together. For an older person, a pet isn’t just an animal; it’s often their primary companion and the reason to get up in the morning. The Trust ensures that no one has to face the heartbreak of giving up their best friend during their most difficult years.
Thank you for supporting my training, my first marathon, and this wonderful cause!
If you can donate anything and come and cheer me, it will mean a lot!
