‘Adopting’ a pet from The Cinnamon Trust

The phrase Forever Fostering

You may have noticed that, at The Cinnamon Trust, we do not use the common term ‘adoption’ when it comes to the life-long care of a pet. We use the term Forever Fostering, the reason for this is that our way of doing things is incredibly unique and separates us from general rehoming organisations.

How is it different?

Pets that come into our care do so following a lifelong promise made to a concerned pet owner who is no longer able to care for their pet. The Cinnamon Trust makes a commitment to those who make arrangements through our Pet Profiling service that if they pass away or move into residential nursing care, leaving a companion behind, the loving care they have always provided during a pet’s life will continue under our nurturing and loving wing forever more.

During the Profiling process, owners take great pride and spend a lot of time talking to us about their pets, so we know all the little and large details about their beloved companions, ensuring that pets are not just understood but are placed in the ideal environment to thrive. This thoughtful process is why more and more people are making arrangements with The Cinnamon Trust: we keep our promise to those seeking peace of mind that their companions will be loved and cared for when they are no longer here to do so.

To uphold our promise, it’s required that we remain the registered guardian for the rest of the pet’s life to always ensure there’s someone looking after them and supporting their forever foster family. With our lifelong support for the Forever Fosterers, we ensure all the pet’s needs are met without them worrying about huge vet bills. We will hold hands with our fosterer through any issues they may face when taking on a Cinnamon Pet, so they can focus on sharing their much-needed loving home and cuddles while we provide practical help and support. It’s a lifelong partnership for a beloved pet.

We have no kennels, catteries, or rehoming centres. Instead, we believe that all pets should be looked after in a home-from-home environment. So any pet in our care, be it short-term or long-term, is placed in a foster home that matches their needs. In this safe, familiar environment, we can spend the time to ensure that the next chapter of a pet’s life starts off right.

How do I become a Forever Fosterer?

  1. Get onto our enquiry list for a forever foster pet
    • Fill out our online form or give us a call on 01736 757 900 (10:00–16:00 Mon–Fri) and let us know a little about yourself, your home, and the pets(s) you’d be interested in.
  2. Standby
    • When a bereaved pet comes into our care, we strive to find their ideal match. Thanks to our comprehensive pet profiling service, we have an in-depth understanding of each pet’s character, attributes, and background, including their previous home environment. With all this in mind, we carefully evaluate our enquiry list to identify the most suitable match for each pet.
  3. Answer our call
    • Once we have found the ideal family and home for our foster pet, we will reach out to them—hopefully, this will be you! We will then paint a detailed picture of the pet, send you photos, and answer any questions you have to help you decide if you wish to offer them a forever home.
  4. Get Home checked
    • Should you say “yes” to our call, we will arrange for a volunteer to visit you at home and run through a few questions to ensure that your property is the perfect environment for our forever foster pet.
  5. Welcome them home
    • Once your home check has been passed, we will ensure the safe and timely transport of any forever pet(s) to you. If you cannot collect a pet yourself, we will happily arrange professional or volunteer transportation directly to you at no cost to you.
    • We will send ahead a comprehensive care plan and items to help them settle in, as well as delivering every pet with their personal belongings.
  6. You are a Forever Fosterer
    • You have now joined The Cinnamon Family and will now be supported by The Cinnamon Trust forever more! Enjoying all the perks seen above.
