When Nicola returned to Devon after years of working in London, she rediscovered her love of walking and the outdoors. This summer, she took on her biggest challenge yet: walking the entire 630-mile South West Coast Path to raise money for The Cinnamon Trust.
Carrying her tent and supplies on her back, Nicola spent a month making her way along the coast, tackling long days of walking in everything from torrential rain and strong winds to record-breaking summer heat.
A former London Underground driver, Nicola is no stranger to a challenge. After returning to Devon, she completed walks including the Three Peaks and, having previously walked sections of the South West Coast Path, decided it was time to take on the whole route.
Nicola had also visited our Hillside Farm Sanctuary and was deeply moved by the work we do. When friends offered to sponsor her challenge, choosing The Cinnamon Trust felt like the natural fit.
Along the way, there were plenty of memorable moments, from spotting dolphins near Porthcurno to meeting fellow walkers and enjoying the changing landscapes of the South West.

On 16 July, Nicola completed the final leg of her incredible journey, having walked all 630 miles – and raised an amazing £1,140 for The Cinnamon Trust.
Her fundraising will help us continue supporting older people and those who are terminally ill, helping them care for and stay together with the pets they love.
