Our aim is to help those who, through no fault of their own, feel that they may have to say goodbye to their beloved companion due to illness or incapacity.

If there is a physical hurdle that is proving challenging for an older or terminally ill pet owner, we will do all we can to overcome it with the help of our UK-wide network of animal-loving volunteers.

Ceridwen & Juanita with Bramble, Dyfed

My six-year-old daughter Juanita and I have begun volunteering to walk Bramble, a six-year-old Border Terrier. The fact that Juanita and Bramble are the same age was the first clue they would become friends!

When we first explored the country lanes together on a Sunday morning and people came out of the chapel, we realised Bramble is famous. He is a local legend who people fuss over without hesitation due to his sweet temperament.

Our volunteers are changing the lives of pets and owners nationwide.

If you want to play your part, join us today.

Faqs

Volunteering

  • Am I obligated to give a certain amount of time each week?

Not at all; as a volunteer, the time you give is entirely up to you. A lot of our volunteers help a set amount per week, but we have no stipulation about the amount you volunteer.

  • Can another adult or child accompany me while volunteering?

We have no rule against being accompanied while volunteering, except being accompanied by an owner while walking a dog. All we ask is that you discuss who will be joining you with the owner in advance so there are no surprises.

  • Can I bring my own dog along with me for dog walks?

Yes, you can, but there are some things to keep in mind. We have a one dog per hand rule, so if you have more than one dog or the person you are looking to support has more than one dog, then we deem it unsafe to walk 3+ at any one time.

  • How old do I need to be to volunteer?

We are delighted to accept young volunteers who are looking to help in their community. We require volunteers to be aged 16 to be able to volunteer independently; however, we do accept children under age 16 as young volunteers when registered along with a responsible adult who can accompany them while volunteering.
